FAQ

Questions, answered.

A one-hour, one-to-one online session based on a clinical case. You research the case and write up your reasoning beforehand. During the session you work through it with your advisor, who questions and discusses your reasoning.

Both. Most sessions are built around a Problem-Based Learning case, but the same advisors also provide tutoring on a particular topic or difficulty — for example a subject a student is struggling with, or preparation for a specific assessment.

Question banks test recall through multiple-choice questions. A PBL session involves working through a case and explaining your reasoning to an advisor. The two are used for different purposes.

PBL Coach is founded by an educator with PBL experience, including work with the University of Edinburgh medical curriculum. Further advisors — practising clinicians, academics and senior students — will be added over time.

After booking, you receive the case in advance. You research it, write up your reasoning, and upload your response before the session.

Prices are per one-hour session: student advisors £45, doctor advisors £95, and consultant advisors £150. Shared sessions cost less per person, and session blocks and monthly membership reduce the per-session cost. Figures are indicative.
