Problem-Based Learning and tutoring for medical students.

PBL Coach provides one-to-one online sessions for medical students. Most sessions are built around a Problem-Based Learning case: you receive it in advance, prepare a written response, and work through your reasoning with an experienced advisor. The same advisors also provide tutoring on particular topics or difficulties that arise during a medical degree. It is supplementary support, alongside university teaching.

PBL Coach is based in Edinburgh, a city with a long tradition in medicine and surgery. The Edinburgh surgeons established their Surgeons' Hall in 1697. In the nineteenth century James Syme, and then Joseph Lister — who developed antiseptic surgery — were Regius Professors of Clinical Surgery at the University of Edinburgh, where Arthur Conan Doyle also studied medicine.
